Copyright & Content Notices

Last updated 11 October 2026.

Our approach

fifi.cooking is a non-commercial family memorial. Alongside Dr. Fatma Alkawokgy's own recipes, it shows recipes from other books, cooks, channels and websites, credited to them, mostly as structured facts (names, ingredients, quantities, times) and rewritten steps. We want every author treated fairly. If you hold rights in something on the Service and want it removed, credited differently, linked to your work, or licensed to us properly, please tell us. We would rather fix it quickly than argue.

How to send a notice

Email [email protected] with the subject “Content notice”, or open a GitHub issue if you are happy for it to be public. Please include:

  1. the work or right you say is affected (for example the book title, channel or page);
  2. the exact URL(s) on fifi.cooking, or the recipe names;
  3. what you would like us to do (remove, re-credit, link, correct);
  4. your name and how to reach you, and, if you act for someone else, on whose behalf;
  5. a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the rights holder, its agent or the law, and that the information in your notice is accurate; and
  6. your physical or electronic signature (a typed full name is fine).

A notice with these elements also meets the requirements of the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3)) and of a notice under Article 16 of the EU Digital Services Act. Under U.S. law, a person who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing may be liable for damages.

What happens next

We acknowledge notices, normally within a few days. Where a notice is credible we disable the content while we look into it, then remove, re-credit or restore it, and tell you what we decided and why. Because the archive is open source, removed content may survive in earlier copies of the public repository and in copies others made under the licences that applied; we will remove it from the current site, apps and data files.

Counter-notices

If content you contributed was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same address with the removed content's URL, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, your name, address and phone number, your consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court (for U.S. counter-notices, the federal district court for your address, or any judicial district in which we may be found if you are outside the U.S.), and your signature. We will forward it to the person who sent the notice.

Other illegal content and the EU Digital Services Act

You can report any other content you believe is illegal in the same way. Our single point of contact for users and for authorities, including under Articles 11 and 12 of the Digital Services Act, is [email protected], in English or Arabic. The Service does not host content posted by users, does not use automated content moderation, and does not recommend content based on profiling.

Canada

Notices about Canadian copyright are welcome at the same address. We handle them as above, whether or not the notice-and-notice regime of the Copyright Act applies.
